I can't edit a post?

I had a holster for sale here http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=238179&highlight=3913, I have since sold the holster, but can't find how to mark it as sold. The post is a few months old, so should I add a new post saying sold and bring it back to the top? I just got a pm asking if it was still for sale, so not sure which way is better to handle that. Thanks

Adding a new post with any new info is the way to go.

You can only edit your post for about a week, then you can't edit it anymore.

Is there a limitation on the site that won't allow edits or is it just a policy?
I ask because sometimes I would find it useful to delete an old for-sale ad for something I may have taken off the market, or at least say I took it off the market without bumping it. Old ads tend to bring questioning emails from prospective buyers that are somewhat annoying.
So, wondering why edits and deletes aren't available?

Sorry, didn't see this before now.
Yes, there is a time limitation to editing posts. It is currently 4 days, after that time period the "Edit" button disappears. The time limit on edits is in place to prevent someone from changing the flow and meaning of a thread in the future.
Don't worry about bumping a Trading post thread with a final post saying the item is sold or is no longer for sale. That's done all the time.
If you find it is imperitive that a thread be deleted, don't hesitate to ask any moderator to do that for you. Be sure to supply a link to the thread instead of expecting the moderator to find it for you (you'd be surprised how often that happens).
