Yesterday I went to FedEx to ship my Ruger P85 back to Ruger for the Recall they had on it 10+ years ago {I know, I am a little behind}

Anyways, I went in there and told the girl behind the counter, "I am wanting to ship a firearm to Ruger" and the girl asked me "How do you want to ship it?"

I responded, "How much is it?", she went on to tell me what the prices of Overnight, 2-day, and Ground were.

Of course, I went with the cheapest and insured it. But I got home and checked their website - It says "you must Overnight it"

Question - I told/showed her that it was a Firearm

She is the one that told me how I could ship it - So, has anyone else done this?

You shipped it and insured it following instructions from UPS. Don't worry about it.

I just shipped my firearm via UPS on Monday via overnight air. I was told that it was the only way that they would ship it.

The clerk who helped me had to call someone else to figure out the proper procedure, but she did so and my firearm made it to its destination safely.

Doesn't suprise me. Even FedEx (and UPS) don't know their own rules.
Just consider yourself lucky that they took it in the first place and that you saved some $ on the shipping fees. You held up your end of the contract by telling them it was a firearm. If their clerk doesn't know any better, it's their problem.

For recalls and repairs I wish manufactures would send you a fedex or ups label. Even if they billed you for it, I bet it would be cheaper then shipping it next day air.

Some will send a label for repairs or recalls, and I thought Ruger was one of them. Clemco51, did you contact Ruger before shipping the gun?

I did contact Ruger, and they sent me a Box to ship it in, along with a label.

I put my gun in that box and took that to FedEx
