hello everyone! i just joined THR. after some time lurking in the shadows, i finally decided to join up. my name is Dan and i live in Charleston WV. i have lived here all my life. i love going to the range with my father and just plink away. especially when we are by ourself. then we can do what we want and not have to wait for others for the range to go cold. but we make sure to obey the range rules, use common sense, and respect for the property and the weapons. safety is our #1 priority. now down the the main reason why this thread was posted. last Sunday my father and i were at the range, after we were down shooting (run outta ammo:D) we started to pick up our brass. we usually just pick it up and throw it away. we don't reload nor do we have the equipment to do so. anyways i thought to myself. "i wonder if we could sell this 30.06 brass and maybe get some money out of it" so we started picking up all the brass around the range. just high caliber brass. we didn't bother with stuff like .22 or 9mm. we had a pretty good sized bag of brass. now what i want to know is if any of you gentlemen will be able to link me to a list that might give an example of the caliber and # of shells you could sell. eg. 20# 30.06 brass would be 5$. i have no idea if that is anywhere close to what it would be. i may be grossly over or under the actual going rate. so if someone could please enlighten me on this i would greatly appreciate it. thank you!

Brass is usually sold per 100 and not by the #. Here are a few sights to give you an idea what used brass sells for. Just remember that the brass on most of thes sights is clean and some deprimed.

Not directed only to mastershake, but has anyone else around here noticed that a large numbers of posts recently found on THR are odes to e.e.cummings?
Come on folks, it isn't THAT hard to hit the shift key once in a while.

MASTER... Even if you can't shake the brass as reloadable, it does fetch a pretty good penny at a scrapyard. It has bought me many a Budweiser....

By the pound, brass is sold to recycler's. By the 100's it is sold for reloading.

Ebay. A lot of brass is bought and sold on Ebay. They are anti, but they have got the best gig in town for selling stuff.

Mastershake. The problem is that to sell it for relaoding most people will want it as "once fired". Now we all know that brass sold as once fired probably isn't, but to sell range pickup brass to reloaders would carry some liability for the seller. You won't know the condition of the brass. It may have been loaded 10 times before. You may be better off selling it as scrap as others have suggested.
BTW, welcome to THR. And it's good to see a hometown member here. I grew up in Ripley and lived for a time just off Motrose dr in Charleston..

Find someone who reloads, and sell/trade/give it to them. If not, try ebay, or some other website. If all else fails, a junkyard might be your best bet.
And I don't think that it is about OCD, I think it is because posts that are all caps, or lower-cased, or some other strange format are very difficult to read.
