Anyone know which flashlights the criminalists on TV's, "CSI" and "CSI Miami" use?

I don't know what brand they use but they sure use them a lot.
Haven't figured out why they don't just turn on the lights instead of searching a dark room with flashlights.

hso called it, Surefires mostly. They seem to have a flashlight of the day/show. Saw on a behind the scenes show, that they get alot of they're stuff free as product placement.
When looking for small items, it is better to leave the lights off and use a narrow beam light to look in one spot and move on in a pattern till area is cleared. I hope they have rechargable lights, because I'd hate to be buying the batteries they go through.

ARGarrison's right, CR123 batteries are expensive, even bought in bulk! I pay $2.50 each when I buy them 10 at a time and $2.00 each at 20 lots.

Heck they have one piece of lab equipment which is valued at ~ $.5 Million and it is typically just shown in the background. Talk about expensive product placement.......
hso- Well, 1) I said 1/2M not $5M and 2) this was per a PR piece in Parade magazine a couple of weeks ago. I know that doesn't mean it is a fact but why would the people at Parade lie about it? As far as betting goes, I don't give a plugged nickel either way. Good luck with the bet.

I'm not sure what $5M piece of equipment that would be, but I'd bet all of the next paychedk that an instrument company didn't loan an instrument that expensive to a TV show.

hso-
Where are you getting CR123 batteries for only $2-$2.50 a piece? I'd love to get myself some at that price...

I might take that bet... ;)
I've never watched the show but I think I remember seeing on the Zeiss website that a big dollar microscope was being used on the set on loan.
But I think H&K Fan said .5M not 5M.
