i don't like the look of the factory hammer so i'd like to change it to a skeleton hammer like the kimbers have.

would i also need to change the sear? anything else need to be changed because of the lock mechanism? which manufacturer is recommended as far as the parts go?

You should not have to change the sear, but for a little more money you can and it should improve things.

EGW (http://egw-guns.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=34_41&products_id=159) has a good set.

Cylinder & Slide does also. The Tactical Match (https://shop.cylinder-slide.com/ccp51/cgi-bin/cp-app.pl?usr=51F4992065&rnd=4354248&rrc=N&affl=&cip=209.149.177.67&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=79&cat=1911DI&catstr=HOME:6:43:1911DI)or the 24/7 (https://shop.cylinder-slide.com/ccp51/cgi-bin/cp-app.pl?usr=51F4992065&rnd=4354248&rrc=N&affl=&cip=209.149.177.67&act=&aff=&pg=prod&ref=CS324&cat=1911DI&catstr=HOME:6:43:1911DI) should do the trick.

Extreme Engineering (http://shootersconnection.com/store/index.php?cPath=108&osCsid=04a10499cd9f6215824d821a3167bfc8) has a good one, but it's more competition oriented.

For cheap you can just get a McCormick (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=319104) hammer which looks a lot like the Kimbers.

Brownells has a bunch of choices at all different price points.

If all you can get now is the trigger go for it, you can always replace other parts later.
