Many of you have given me great advice the other day. I then went to a couple of stores and found what I may have been looking for. I LOVE THIS GUN. It's a Franchi Veloce, 20 gauge.

Is that a bad choice? Asking price $900 NIB

That price is a good starting point. If you really have to pay $900.00, go for it. If you can get it cheaper, more money for ammo. Yes, that is a good price. Always try to talk the seller down in orice.

The Veloce has some fans. I've heard nothing bad about it as an upland gun, but it may be a little light as a hard core clay death ray.

I can't remember the name of it (Squire?), but the Veloce comes in a matched set also. It has the 20 guage barrel set and the 28 guage barrel set. You might consider looking for that. It would cost a bit more, but it's nice to have both. I have almost the same thing, but mine is a Beretta Silver Pidgeon Combo.

As far as Frachi goes, I have a couple of their auto-loaders. I really like both of them. One is a gas gun, however, and it's pretty finicky about cycling reliably in cold weather.

I would not hesitate to buy one of their o/u guns.

Add me to the Franchi fan group. I have a pretty decent collection of SKB's, Brownings, and Franchis. But when I go shooting, I always reach for my little Franchi 48 20 gauge. The others are there for me to shoot. They are mine and paid for. But-the little Franchi is the only gun I ever really shoot. The others are pretty but they get almost no use.
