I like to clean all of my firearms at least once a year ,especially the old ones, to inspect them for rust and other corrosion. This habit/excuse usually gives me an reason to shoot them first in some manner. :) This past weekend, my son and I took our Savage model 24 out to the trap range. After we had shot all the 12ga shells our budget had allowed us to bring, we retrieved the 20 ga model 24 out of its case to see if we could hit anything with it.

We were pleasantly surprised at the ease and accuracy of the lil gun. The 24 inch barrel had no problem reaching out there to get the job done. The drop from 12 ga to 20 ga had very little difference in perceived recoil. Either that or my shoulder was already numbed from 100 shots with the 12 ga! Mr McCracken is right when he says that any gun that fits can be used for trap.
I will admit that I did NOT try to hit the clay with the upper 22wmr barrel. :p However I did sight in the 22wmr barrel a couple of days earlier last week. After adjustments, I was able to get 3 shots in a one inch grouping at 50 yards leaning over the side of my truck for steady with iron sights. Good enough for me!
Variety is the spice of life sometimes. I see no reason to get bored with only one firearm :)
