I haven't seen any posts for this yet here, so I thought I'd make a general invite to my favorite shooting community.

I could also arrange a "pre-clinic" warm up at my local rifle range, near Snoqualmie Falls. During the week would be best.

Bring whatever you've got to shoot, a sling, a mat or old towel, and 100 rounds. I'll supply the targets, range, and what little pointers I've gleaned from shooting the COF once. If you don't want to shoot your own, I could provide a .22, or an M1, depending on how my BS meter goes off when we meet.

Then you can go to the Appleseed to get straightened out, but at least you've shot the COF.

The link provided is a very good place to start.

The Appleseed shoots are a 2 day marksmanship clinic, with emphasis on long range shooting skills. The teach the basics of putting lead on the target, to meet the Rifleman standard of 4 MOA from field positions, enabling the shooter to have the skills to have an effective range of 500+ yards. The skills taught are skills that are not being taught to modern shooters, but were common place during the Revolutionary War, thus the Revolutionary War Veterans Association or RWVA, that sponsors these shoots.

Their goal is to reconnect Americans to their Rifleman heritage and provide long range shooting skills to those who wish to learn. The cost is very low at $70 for the weekend, to include targets, instruction, T-shirts, a great time, great instructions, and some historical perspective of what the rifle and the Rifleman meant to the founding of this nation.

Kids under 21 and Military shoot FREE, as they wish to teach the next generation and give added skills to those protecting this nation today.

You will have a good time at one of these, or you can have all of your brass back. The course of fire is set up for semi-auto rifles, but often bolt action and lever actions can be seen on the line. As most of the instruction is done at reduced size targets at 25 meters, many folks shoot 10/22s or ARs with 22 kits. You will see M1 Garands, SKS, AR15s, M1a, FAL, Mausers, and all sorts of rifles.

These are vary family friendly events and you will often see fathers and sons, husbands and wives, shooting on the line together.

Well worth the $$ and the effort to attend one.

I would love to go but have obligations such as head T-Ball coach, and supportive church auction attendee. Things actually slow down during the summer.

I had a wild ride in my little pontoon boat down a canal of the Yakima there. And left my flyrod at the bottom somewhere!

How far from Thorp are you, PR?

If you look at a map and connect Thorp to Cliffdel on HWY 410 with a ruler I am right in the middle. About 20 miles by road out of Thorp West South West.

Cliffdale, Throp :D I went to school in Yakima and Ellensburg and know the areas well. Did a lot of hiking around the W.O.Douglas as well as the LT Murray/Oak Creek, Table Mnt... good times, great area

This is a great program -- I've shot at 3 Applseeds and my marksmanship has improved far beyond what I had originally thought was possible. If you're even considering attending, go ahead and do it. Highly recommended!

I understand many more folks show up and pay on the first day.

I won't be making it, and there isn't an emoticon that can properly describe my forlorn emptiness at missing this one.

I'll get out and do the AQT this weekend on my own, instead...
