Does anyone make a revolver in 40SW? Or is it an auto only caliber.

S&W made the 646 (now discontinued) in .40S&W. You can also shoot .40S&W in the S&W model 610 if you use moonclips.

Ruger also made a single action, either a New Vaquero or Blackhawk, with dual cylinders that would accept the .40 S&W or the old .38-40 cartridge.

I searched the Ruger web site but didn't find anything so guess they must have discontinued it. What are moon clips?

The ruger convertible .38-40 was a special run and has been discontinued. Moonclips are flat round metal (or sometimes plastic) spring clips that hold the cartridges and allow rimless cartridges like 9mm, 10mm, .40S&W, and .45ACP to be fired in and ejected from revolver cylinders. Usually the revolver cylinder is cut so that the cartridges can headspace properly on the case mouth, allowing the gun to be fired without using moonclips. However, without a moonclip extraction is a bit of a chore, as spent cases then need to be poked out of the cylinder individually. Note that Ruger single actions cannot use moonclips due to the single action design. They use a second cylinder instead.

Hell no. The sizes are different and the .38 Super exceeds the chamber pressure limits of the .38 Special.

Here ya go! The top gun is a 646 in .40 S&W, the bottom a 610 10mm, but it will also shoot .40 S&W.
