Browning HP hammer swap?

Folks,
I have a Browning High Power, standard model, nothing trick about it.
The problem is the hammer bite. Like many before me, I cannot take a high, firm grip without ending up with a small, round bloody rip at the back edge of the web of my thumb.
Any recommendations on swapping out the spur hammer that is on the pistol for something that won't leave those bloody pinches?

Either bob the spur hammer or go to Cylinder and Slide and get one of their "Commander" style ring or loop hammers...while you're there, may as well get a better sear and install at the same time.

Can I horn in on this thread?
I posted a thread in the Auto section about getting a C&S hammer and sear set. Need to know if it is difficult to install. I have the tools that I think I need. Does anyone have any info?

Disassembly and assembly to install the parts is not difficult. HOWEVER, proper fit of the parts on a HiPower is a bit trickier than a 1911. It won't tolerate as much as to improper fit of hammer and sear surfaces (not that a 1911 will tolerate much either). Safety will most likely have to be refit or replaced. Sear spring tension can bite you, too. A HiPower seems to be more prone to hammer follow than a 1911 when things are not right. It can get ugly quick. If you are comfortable with a 1911 and have the tools (hammer/sear jigs), skill, and patience to do it right, go for it. Otherwise, seek skilled help.

Thanks BBBBill, thats what I needed to know. I'll just have a gunsmith do it. Don't want to take a chance.
