I may be interested in getting a match grade rifle when I go to Camp Perry this year. I know Rock River has a fine match grade rifle but I was wondering if anybody here has a recommendation for a more cost effective match grade rifle?

For out of the box rifles, RRA probably gets you the most for your money. You might look around for something used. If it's got a 1:7" heavy barrel, a float tube and decent sights, it's probably going to shoot.

The RRA NM is 1 in 8", not 1 in 7". Granted, there's nothing wrong with that. 1 in 8" is perfectly fine for everything up to 80gr.
If you just want to buy a complete rifle and not have to play around with the configuration, the RRA NM version will work right out of the box.
But for the money, you may want to spend a few hundred more and get a White Oak Armament upper receiver and a lower with your own configuration.
Looking at the RRA website, they have the NM complete rifle listed at $1150.
You can get a White Oak Armament complete upper with pinned rear sight for only $750. Add a stripped lower for $150 or so, the A2 stock for another $75, a LPK for $60, and you are up to $1035 without a quality trigger. Add $125-$300 depending on which 2 stage you decide to go with.

Armalite, RRA and Bushmaster just to name a few all make good guns for comp, I think the way production is today it would be pretty tough to say one brand is largely better than the rest. If you are shooting service rifle just make sure it has a 1/7 or 1/8 twist not a 1/9 or 1/12, because you will notice the difference long range. The only other factor to worry about is a good 2 stage trigger.

if money isn't an object, go PacNor 1/6.5 twist. Then you can use the sierra 90gr bullet, great BC.

This is the same questions I have. Is there any significant differnce in the Bushmaster DCM Match and the RRA Match?

From what I heard from the long time shooters, no one (or mostly none) has been able to get 22cal 90gr bullets to shoot in a service rifle. 80s still reign on the 600 yard line. If anything, the bullet many are migrating to are the 80gr Berger VLDs.

The jewell weight can be adjusted without taking it out of the lower. That's a key thing when trying to maintain 4 1/2 lb service rifle standard.
Most major names make a good CMP rifle these days, but I'd avoid anything but a Jewell in the lower. Bush two-stages are a nightmare.
I like Turner slings, but they all seem to be about the same. Lots of folks shoot green web slings just fine.
I keep a lot of weight in my rifle. I think it helps off hand and in recoil on the rapids.
It's a great rifle. Much better than the issue M16A2s and variants the Armed forces use.
Mike: I think the RR two stage is better than the Bush by a long shot, but not as good as the Jewell.

I like the Geissele trigger. Whenever people have trigger troubles, it seems to be with a Jewell. I shot next to McKenna on Sunday and he dropped a couple extra points at 600 because the hammer wouldn't fall (Jewell).

I would try High Preformance International. They are second to none.
Mike also builds a great match rifle. hpirifles.com

Awesome trigger. I junked my KM and old Armalite and have replaced them with Geiselles. I need to order a couple more actually.

For Service rifle My DPMS N/M upper is excelent and I imagine their total N/M ARs are excelent also. With match rifles I go for JP Enterprise Grade I Super match-pricey but very good.

I went from zero to distinguished with a Frank White (Compass Lake Engineering) upper with the Douglas barrel and his trigger mod. But this was the service configuration...
