CA ccw question/Idea

I am an armed security guard in PRK. The training I got
probably equals what a lot of states would have you do for
ccw. Can their be a proposition/initiative that would
change the law to allow armed security to carry ccw?
I live in "don't call it Frisco" PRK so it is impossible for me to get one, even though I would easily get one if I was up north. I meet a lot of the "good cause" here in CA (I guard large amounts of $$, often come across criminals in the course of work, etc.)
Of course I would rather have VT style ccw.
Cops/Corrections get to carry off duty and part of the reasoning
is they deal with criminals who may recognize them and
attack....I deal with criminals as well, and if they attack when I
am off duty I might be S.O.L.

Of course you're right - it's the height of idiocy that the open & uniformed carry license, and the CCW are distinct and separate beasties here in the lovely and confused state of CA. I suppose that's because they're issued by different agencies.

It did amuse me to no end to find that the law is so convoluted that off-duty cops (who of course can carry concealed off duty) can't carry at all for bodyguard plain-clothed work, unless they obtain the security-guard open carry license.

I mean what do you do with a state that pays people to protect others with guns, but specifically makes it illegal to do the same thing with a gun they can legally carry, if they do it on your own time, if they get paid?

Honestly though, I can't see enough people getting excited about it to mount a referendum. Maybe you should just find a north-state residence address and get a CCW up here?

Same for private investigators. The law says a private investigator who wants to carry concealed must have a CCW plus a $1 million liability policy. However, most retired cops are already authorized to carry concealed. Does the law regulating private investigators say that a retired cop PI must also get a CCW? The law is not entirely clear.
