You are going to get many different opinions, from a wide variety of our
membership~! :uhoh:
With that said, it would depend on what purpose the weapon is to be used
for? For me, I think strictly from a defensive standpoint; so with that in mind
I would have too vote for the .45 ACP SIG-SAUER P220A, with its DA first
shot capability. ;) :D

From concealed carry standpoint my Glock 23c.

If I lived some place where we had four seasons, and I could wear a cover garment during three of them, my Kahr P45 IWB.
Since I don't...my Kahr PM9 in the pocket, in my DeSantis Nemesis.

For carry guns, I like polymer (at least this week). That said, my first thoughts are of either the USP/USPc in caliber of your choice or maybe a Glock 19.
Polymer is lighter, durable and has proven to be a good material for frames ;)

I'm going to answer similarly: I would carry exactly what I carry now, a BHP in 9mm.

Let's see, only one gun for every season and occasion?
Does it have to be concealed? Who cares? If I'm gonna get nailed down to one gun then I'll have to flip a coin to see if it is a 5 1/2 inch barrel Ruger Redhawk in .44mag or my super compact Para-Ordnance Warthog in .45acp. Either way I will not feel that I do not have enough gun.

Carry: W. German 9mm Sig P226 because I trust it beyond any other pistol to always work, bar none, no excuses.
Own: 9mm Hi-Power because it's a close second to my Sig in reliability and I'd hate to be without one of those svelte beauties.

Well I am going to assume this is a handgun your talking about as this is in the handgun forum.
And I will have to say that I agree with the HK guys.
An HK P2000 with factory night sights in .40S&W with the LEM trigger.
Funny... that seems to be the gun I plan on carrying.
I am expecting a whole bunch of 1911 guys to come in any moment.

Auto. (not brand specific) A tried, tested and trusted 1911 45.
Wheel gun. 357 mag 4" barrel.
I won't say Glock, HK, Para or any other name brand till it is in hand and proven. Say 1000 rds no hiccups. If any gun has a failure to feed for an "unexplainable" reason it should not be carried as your "only" choice.
So that "1" Gun could be a Star, Interarms, LLama, EAA, or and high dollar custom.
Gotta trust exclusively whatever you carry and price is not the determining factor in trust.

One gun that was easily concealable for all occasions; it would have to be a Smith 442/642. If it was forever, a Glock 23 (40 S&W), and I would find a rig that I can conceal it with that is comfortable. I just have not found a holster I like yet for one that works for all or most occasions.

One gun? Have to be my Springfield 1911 full size. Been shooting the .45's for 30 years and have total faith in the round and pistol. Sure it's been brought up in the forum before but if by way of bad luck your carry gun is taken away most of the younger generation is used to DA first shot weapons. The old slab side has that dang thumb safety most aren't used to dealing with. Could give me the chance to reacquire my running mate while the BG is figuring out what's wrong with that ol' antique pistol. :cool:
Take care all

As a carry gun I tried just about everything from full size to sub-compact. Money wasn't a factor for me. What I settled on might suprise some of you, a 9x18 Makarov.
The reasons are as follows, in order of importance.
* unfailing reliability
* excellent accuracy
* reasonably powerful cartridge
* servicable 8 round mag capacity, more is better but 8+1 is ok
* size, small enough for pocket carry but big enough for a decent grip
* solid steel construction throughout for exceptional durability
* very few parts, I can tear it down and replace everything myself

A 4" 357 mag covers all bases. Could carry concealed if needed, good for self defense, can take deer size game at close ranges, no magazine to lose, and a wide variety of ammo at different power levels from target wadcutters (good foe small game) to full magnums. Probaly a GP100 for durability but most any would do.

Only one!!!!
A Smith and Wesson Model 10 in .38 with hollowpoints. Easy to use, easy to fix, easy to find parts, easy to find bullets, easy to reload. Now I carry a Glock.
