How many of you will buy the Kel Tec P3AT?

I know I will. Gunbroker has one NIB for $239. I'm not going to wait until they work out the bugs. Lifetime warranty ought to cover that.

Already own a P-32 so I'm not planning an immediate purchase. But. . . . . Father's Day is coming soon. Wouldn't be the first time the wife surprised me with a gun present.

I want one. However, I got sick of sending my P32 in for service. After three times I dumped it. I will wait for the bugs to be worked out. With the high cost of overnight shipping free service isn't really free. My three trips cost almost a hundred dollars. It just isn't worth it for a $200 gun. Watch-Six

I'll not be buying one anytime soon. If Kel-Tec gets their 'stuff' together, perhaps then...

Put me down for 2 of them as soon as I can find one around here.

Well, I have to buy one to go with my P-11 and P-32. But, I'm not in a hurry. If I see one for under $250 local - I'll buy. I don't think there will be a crazy rush for these because a lot of people just don't like Kel-Tec's, the .380 is not a magic death ray, and the gun was not designed in Europe.

Having previously owned a Kel-Tec P32 and P11, I pretty much know the quirks and foibles of their products and I plan to buy one much later in the serial # run when distribution gets widespread and all the hoopla dies down.

My (high-numbered) P32 has run flawlessly . . . but I know a lot of folks had problems before we got to this point. I'm curious to see the first 100 reports on how the .380 works. And I'm curious to see Goldenloki's penetration reports (assuming he does them) to see how the 9x17 actually performs out of the P3AT in gelatin (it was his demonstration of the P32's adequate penetration abilities that got me to actually take the mousegun plunge after many years of staying away from such). (I mean, I already have a 940 that is pretty small - and I have confidence that it will spit a 9x19 with enough force to be scary.)

After I check these things out, I'll decide whether the P3AT offers anything substantially better than my P32.

I will, but I'll wait until next year. I want to make sure all the bugs are worked out.

I will buy one as soon as I can find one locally.

I plan on carrying my P11, for the time being.

I'll wait on the P3AT until I hear some first-hand reports on the quality control.

If the reports are good, I may pick one up, unless my experience carrying the P11 convinces me I don't need anything smaller.

Gunbroker has one NIB for $239.

I called a dealer about a P3AT today. She called her supplier and was quoted $475.00 retail cost for it. :what:

edit: Gunbroker seems to be fresh out at the moment, but GunsAmerica has one for $300.00, here (http://www.gunsamerica.com/searches/PuqDHtjr-NwAADpmOWM-1.htm).

Dumb question: the hard chrome that retails for 360.00, is that in refrence to the barrel or the exterior finish? Just curious

exterior slide finish. Well, I think it is anyway. lol

Just wait a year or two, and Kel Tec will figure out how to put a 9X19 into this apx. package. Now we are talking!

Till then, I will pack either a P32 or MK9 depending on situation and wardrobe.

I plan to get one some day. I already have the P-11 and P-32, so I might as well add a P-3AT.

I want to get either the 3AT or the 32 for a pocket gun. I have a Raven now, that I bought because it was inexpensive, but is 100% reliable.

I am a bit concerned about the .380 now. I recently purchased Mas Ayoob's "Combat Handgunnery, 5th Edition" and he reported failures to penetrate with several .380 loads which many believe in.

He also states that, while not optimal, the .32 ACP one-stop stop percentages are fairly impressive (my words) for such an "anemic" round. He qualifies this by stating some of these stops were gun against knife, etc. Hmm. He says that several .380 rounds are prone to ricochet unlike the .32. Hmm...hmm. I have not finished the book so there might be more to be said about the two calibers.

I bought my .32 because I liked the weight/slim-design not because I preferred .32 over .380. Now he (I trust what the man says) has me rethinking my preference for .380 and a trade-in/sell of the P32 for the .380.

Such is life...decisions, opinions. However, if needed for last-ditch lifesaving one wants to make the best decision. Better choices exist, no need to remind me. The K/T product has performed like a champ. Methinks I shall keep her and pass on the .380 at this point. I am going to do some further research, however.

I also am not very moved by the .380's performance in comparison to the .32. There is just not that much difference in one stop shot percentages or ballistics to justify a switch IMO, nor to justify giving up the extra round. Add to that more percieved recoil, weight, and lack of slide stop in a gun rated for less ammo mileage. I'll check to see if the bugs are ironed out of the 3AT in 6 months or so...but even then, I most likely will not make a switch.

All info is in this order
brand bullet weight (gr.) FPS FPE.

Aguila fmj 71 816 105
CCI Blazer fmj 71 751 89

HydraShock (old)* 90 879 154
HydraShock (new) 90 881 155
Golden Saber 102 835 158

So the moral of the story is: Dont throw away the P32 in favor of the P3AT for its stopping power...Just buy yourself some RBCD performance Plus 32 ACP, load up your P32 (which you know is reliable) and consider yourself well armed.

Ok, I may need to retract my last suggestion....

I have just read a few things that hint towards the possibility of rimlock in the P32 while using RBCD ammo..

I dont think there have been any specific instances...but it is a possibility due to the shortness of the bullet...You can always install the flyer wire in your mag, and that may take care of the problem.

I DO know that I have shot countless RBCD through my Autauga MKII with nary a problem.

Altho I have a few purchases ahead of the P3AT (Custom Shop Kimber for one), its definitely on the list. I've owned a P32 for 1 1/2 years now, shot it alot (500+ rounds) without a single malfunction, and am amazed at it's accuracy...oh, and it gets carried even more than my PM9 Kahr.

I expect competition from the wife as to who gets to carry it...

The P3AT on gunsamerica is LOOONG GONE. :neener:

B&H gunrack are excellent to deal with.
They are 4 miles from the kel-tec factory and should have more soon.

arinvolvo, thanks for posting the chrono numbers. FWIW, I've never had a rimlock problem with my P32 or any other .32 . . . or any .25, for that matter.
