hello,

i need some help from the collective wisdom of the high road! i recently bought my first revolver - a gp100 - and the manual is pretty vague on cleaning and especially oiling the gun.

i did a search and didn't find much details - maybe this is common knowledge? anyhow, would someone give me some pointers on where to put oil or refer me to some link/place? thanks.

The best product to remove the black powder stains is "Never Dull" wadding compound. It works much quicker than any of the solvents or cream polishes and won't get in the cracks or other places you don't want it to be. It is non abrasive. I also use it on my collectable knives to clean and polish the blades and bolsters. Won't scratch a mirror finish. This will take those black powder stains off better and quicker than anything else and leave a nice polished finish. You can get it at motorcycle shops and some hardware stores.
By the way, I got a GP100 6" short shroud for Christmas. Love it.

GP's only get better with age. Add a set of Wolff springs, dry & live fire the heck out of it. The trigger will come in and feel like a 'smith worked her over.

Disagreements ?

Yep. I don't care for stainless anything for cleaning. Unnecessarily harsh on the bore IMHO.
