I have just finished reloading my very first round, a 7.62x54R!

Speer .303 (.311 Diameter) Soft Point 150 GR Copper Jacket
Winchester 748 2.5cc 38.1
Winchester Large Rifle Primer
JMS Once Fired Brass
Lee Classic Hammer & Die Reloading Kit
OAL is ~2.9 (I forget what it is exactly on the new dial caliper)

I'm all ready to shoot it now! I've put together all my equipment - a British Riot Helmet with Face Shield, a German Flak Jacket, Kevlar Gloves. The gun will be the same as what originally fired the round, a 1943 SAKO M39.

I'm scared as heck to pull that trigger yet totally thrilled at the same time. This first round cost me about $180 in tools, books, components, and buying the wrong components (308 bullets, wrong powder, etc)

By the way, can someone tell me if the OAL is a constant, or can be played with as long as it meets the minimum (in this case 2.71)?

Kev

LOL,,,, I just had that same feeling a little while ago. My first attempt at pistol ammo. Don't have that pucker factor with rifles anymore.

You'll probably be like I am now, I can't wait to go shoot,, so I can load more ammo.
