thought this would be fun to see how much you shoot your xd's. in my service model 40 i have 4230 and in my .40sc i have approx 1100rds.
thanks.

btw if you had any breakages, what was the approximate rd count when it happened?

i ask because my xd service broke at the 4230rd mark. thanks again.

i am doing this on a few forums so that way i get a good overall view of the owners and rd counts, breakages and etc. i would like to compile them and see what i come up with!thanks!

Well, before I traded in my XD45Tac, I had around 2500rnds through it. About 1/3 to 1/2 of that factory ammo, the rest was reloads.

I have about 2500 through a XD-9 subcompact, about 50% factory and about 1100 through my XD 45 Service, 50 factory, no problems with either one.

My wife has a XD9SC that we have around 1500rds thru. 1000 of those are 115gr aluminum cased blazers. The rest are 127gr +p+ Rangers. I have a XD45 Tactical that has right at 3000 thru it. 90% of them have been 230gr blazers and the rest have been a mixture of 230gr handloads and Georgia Arms 230gr Gold Dots. Neither one has given us a seconds trouble. Btw, my brother bought a XD45 service the same day I bought my tactical and it is around 1500rds without a problem.

XD 40 Service - 2800 rounds - 1 failure to feed due to bent mag.
XD 40 Tactical - 800 rounds - feed problem with FP bullets, changed to RNFP.
XD 40 Sub Compact - 1200 rounds - no problems.

99% of these are reloads. No breakages of any kind.

Mine 4" XD 40 just broke over the weekend @ about the 5000 round mark, mostly hand loads. The trigger mecanism broke some where inside, I can't get it apart to see what it is. I'm not very happy. Atleast it was on the range and not when I needed it to function.

My XD9 Service Model was imported in 2001. I bought it used that same year and have put over 8000 rounds thru the tube since then, mostly Blazer and WWB. I never had any function or rust issues with the pistol. I recently sent it in to Springfield to have the locking block replaced - it finally developed the hairline crack I had read about. They replaced the locking block, all of the pins and springs, and also refinished the whole thing - grip safety, trigger, magazine releases, etc. at no cost to me whatsoever. They paid shipping both ways and had it back to me in about 2 weeks. I'm a happy camper.

No possum, there isn't anything to see, nothing as drastic as your pistol. The trigger stayed back, didn't rebound forward after the shot. The trigger was pushed forward and pulled again (empty gun) it won't engauge anything. Locked the slide back, can't see anything, can't get it apart to see anything eather. It's headed back as soon as I can get somewhere to pick up FedEx.

I'm also sending back 2 magazines I have that don't work very well, they don't feed about 1/3 of the time.

I'll let you know how things progress.

I acquired my XD-40 Tactical back in July of 2002. According to SA, it was part of the first batch of Tacticals brought into this country. Even before firing the first round through it, it had to go back to SA for a slide refinish, as parts of the factory finish had worn completely down to bare metal from just rubbing against the insides of the hard plastic storage case. It subsequently had to go back to SA two more times in succession as they didn't quite do a good job on the refinish. The third time was the charm, and the finish was flawless (though just as fragile as the original factory finish, as it has started wearing off from just normal handling).

However, the gun was--and continues to be--absolutely reliable and freakishly accurate with my subsonic 155 gr. handloads. I stopped counting at around the 25,000 round mark, and cannot recall the gun ever jamming.

The only problem I've had with it (aside from the slide finish) was a crack that appeared in the locking block a couple of years back. This was a fairly common problem with older XDs that had high round counts. I sent SA the cracked locking block and they mailed me a new one within days.

Here's an image of my XD-40 Tactical, taken about a year ago:

Edited to add:

Is it too late to jump in?

I've put 3000 - 4000 rounds thru my XD40 and about 1000 thru my XD9 without a single failure of any sort.

I've had my XD9 (DOB 12/2006) for about a month with 404 rounds, no problems at all. Shooting what's cheapest at the time: WWB, MagTech, Independence, Remington UMC. Not a single failure with any of those. Oh, the four rounds at the end there, they were Speer Gold Dots to test them out. They certainly weren't cheapest . . . ever.

I recently sold my XD9 service to buy an XD45, I had my 9 for 3 years & put 1500 or so rounds through it w/out ever a problem. I hated to sell it, but needed the funds for the new XD45. These guns are a great value, I sold my 9 for not much less than what I paid for it 3 years ago. I ordered my 45, but it is not in yet.

I guess I'll keep an eye on the locking block on my XD-40 as well, my pistol is also a 2002 model. Hopefully I won't have any issues with mine.

I have not had any issues with factory ammo in my XD9 with nearly 1K rounds through it. It seems to be loose a bit, and does not shoot groups like it did a while back, nor would I expect it to. My other range bag regular is my Glock 17. Have 8700 rounds through it. Replaced the extractor at 5K rounds.

I would still pick up my Glock if the SHTF and I knew I needed one more round to go straight. The fit/feel of the XD is a bit better though.

of course you would, you have almost 10 times the amount of trigger time with the glock.

after 1k you think there is an issue. the only thing that changed with my xd's both of them is the fact that the triiger got lighter and smoother over time, and therefore the accuracy improved. i am very happy with the accuracy of both my service and sc .40's. the sc has over 1000rds and the xd service is at 4230rds. i have seen no degration in accuracy, as a matter of fact the opposite has occured.
