I need to know if anyone out there had any reliability issues with their Kahr(what kind of issue and model of gun, how often, would you trust it with your life)?
I have a PM9 that I'm going to start to carry on a normal basis(I only load it with 147gr.FMJ)!

In fact, just last week I had a poll going on that very subject. I think it is off the main page now. I don't know how to insert a link to it but you can search for "Attention Kahr PM9 owners"

The poll asked how many have had problems with their PM9 after the 200 round break in period. Currently there are 36 or 80% with no problems and 9 or 20% with problems after the break in. Some of the 20% were resolved after a trip back to the factory.

I'll try to insert the link here:

Yes, I had a nickel-plated K9. I loved the ergonomics and it seemed well-made. However, it was finicky with the ammo it liked and at one point, simply locked up and the slide would not move. A gunsmith supposedly "fixed" the problem, but I could never trust it after that and sold it, after disclosing the issue. I understand the new owner has had similar problems. It's a shame. That gun felt better in my hand than any other before or since. I just can't trust them now.

Had some issues with the trigger pin backing out of my P9 when I first got it. Eventhoug it was used, Kahr fixed it with no BS. It has been 100% for about the last 800 rounds now.

kahr k-40 approx 650rds no issues at all. they do recomend that you change the recoil springs out every 2000rds or so IIRC, but that's it and they are low cost so it's not a big deal. i love mine, it is my everyday carry gun, accurate, light weight, and recoil ain't to to bad.

Early production P-40. Never did run right - went back to factory once then I gave up on it.

I couldn't duplicate the issues with a newer one (range rental) which ran fine.

I haven't bought any since the first episode - found stuff I liked better anyway. Kahr gets an "E" for effort - warrantee service was prompt, customer service was pleasant and the repaired product was the same POS I sent them.

I considered the Kahr and even bought a used Kel Tec P-11 that had a hard time feeding. I have heard of Kahrs being problems for a few and the P-11 for me. Personally I don't want to ship guns back and forth. So I settled for the S & W 642 38 special. I prefer my XD Sub Compact but it can be too heavy and large for some clothing.

No problems with my Kahr PM9. It is an early SN model. It did take the 200 round breakin period to smooth it out. After that, it has been totally reliable.

With my first Kahr, an E9 (an older "economy" version of the K9) c. 1999, no cycle reliability (feed/fire/eject) problems, but the staked front sight did fall off. It also sometimes beaned me with ejected cases, for which they lowered the ejection port. No problems since, although it is not one of my most used guns, either.

With a PM9 (purchased April 2006) I did have serious reliability problems and had to send it back. They replaced the barrel and recoil spring and it has been fine since.
