My Beretta 92FS says "Made in USA" on it. At the gun store I also see the same pistol that says "Made in Italy" on it. I know this question will leave me to all kinds of Smarta$$ remarks, but here goes... Is their any significant differences in the gun or value? I was told once that the spring rod etc was plastic on the 92FS like mine, but I took it apart and did not find anything plastic except the grips. What gives?

I've got a feeling that my one has a plastic spring rod, works ok though. As to yankee or eyetalian, I can't remember, I'll have a look in the morning. Mine is great, apart from a sloppy fitting front frame / barrel loop whatever you call it, you can see daylight on the left hand side, I'm used to it now, but that took some time.

Looking at your pic, I think mine must be an Italian one, I'm sure I don't have those PBs stamped on the slide.

ok here it goes,
in the past few years beretta has been adding plastic parts to the 90 series, which include
guide rod
safety lever
trigger
mainspring/lanyard loop
and mag base plates
there isnt a significant difference between italian and american
but there are a few
better fit and finish-italian
fully chromed barrel-italian
more accurate-american
cheaper-american

Thre is no real quality difference, they have been looking to reduce manufactoring cost (don't all business) by using "plastic" parts. The reason their are USA beretta's is due to the military contract. I own both and find no difference in quality, reliability, or accuracy.
