Once again, the Israelis have done it! Continuing their tradition of genius they took the M1 carbine and made a polymer bullpup stock for it. Apparently its cheap and accurate (within caliber limitations) Takes the same mags too! Hopefully you'll see this conversion kit in a gunstore near you

I am interested in the Hezi too, although it only makes commercial sense for a country with massive stocks of surplus M1's to convert.
With crummy GI M1's running over $400 these days and even the Iver Johnson clones commanding that much, it may not be a worthwhile conversion for a civilian gun owner, at least from a value standpoint, not to mention the butchering of history.
I'd be more interested in a Hezi with new production IMI innards that didn't butcher an original M1. I don't know their true tactical utility when we live in a world with plenty of compact offerings in .223, but I still like the idea of "carbine caliber carbines" from a fun standpoint, and .30 carbine, .357 mag, and 7.62x25 Tokarev are intriguing out of 16" + barrels.

I say, bring the M1 action back into production here in the US. It'll satisfy both the history buffs and the ubertacticalninjas. For what its worth, the site lists cost as $500 US. Whether this includes the action or not, I don't know. If it does, I'd probably plunk down some money. My only real concern is that the trigger might be a bit rough, it being a bullpup.
Eh. I'd rather have a Tavor.

One of the designers was speaking about this over on Battlerifles.com a few weeks ago. Basically, they're going to offer it as a conversion here in the US. They are supposedly in negotiation with a gunsmithing company here to do the conversions. All you will have to do is send in your M1 carbine and payment, and back comes the Hezi. They're also working things out with the ATF
Supposedly there are modifications made to the receiver and some of the fire control parts, but you are supposed to be able to transfer the gun back to the original carbine configuration.
Don't know if I'd do this with a USGI carbine, but I'd probably think about it with one of the IAI or Universal carbines.
Price for the parts and conversion work is supposedly going to be between $400 and $700.
