Is this bipod any good?

I'm on a steep budget, absolutely no way to get an expensive one. The height seems like it will be OK for prone, and still short enough for bench, right? It can cant (lol) and swivel, is there any reason not to get this, or anything cheaper that is available?

As long as it doesn't clamp on the gas system or touch the barrel it ought to be OK. Might set up a weird harmonic folded forward when shooting without it, but what the heck. I'd be interested to shoot groups at 100 off a sandbag, groups at 100 off the bipod, groups at 100 off a sandbag with the bipod folded, and see what the effects are. Usually bipods don't help, but as the Col says in "Art of the Rifle"- use support for your rifle whenever you can.

What are you going to put it on?
I got one on sale from Midway (Battenfield is just a Midway trademark.) and it is a much lighter duty piece than a Harris. I use it occasionally on a .22 when I don't want to take the Harris off the .308.

Thanks guys, I've got a Mossberg ATR in .30-06 coming in the mail. I'm not actually sure what bipod will fit, because it seems the sling-swivel-studs are built into the stock.
