What is some "mandatory" reading about 1911 pistols? I'm talking books, magazines, pamplets, websites, forums etc. Thanks!

I have 2 'Book of the 1911' books. I don't know if there are more than 2 out there, but I've bought every one that I've seen. Great books. Guns and Ammo also put out at least one 1911-only magazine that I have. Not a must have but was a good read.

Our very own Steve Camp also has a highly-regarded book on the 1911:

There is a huge store of knowledge about 1911's here on "The High Road". Should be in the gunsmithin forum....

Under Gear and Amuntion section, the Gunsmithing and Repairs threads.

Must read books include Charles Clawson's books on the military and commercial Colt 1911 pistols. These were just re-printed recently and should be somewhere around $50-$75. However the original huge edition will set you back $800 or more. However it is the bible of the 1911. Don Bady's Colt Automatic Pistols. Goddards book on the Government models is pretty good. If you dig around on Amazon you should be able to find these. While there you might find a copy of Haven and Belden's A History of the Colt Revolver. It however was written in 1945 and deals with everything Colt made. It does contain pictures of the ads Colt ran to sell their guns. Pretty interesting. The NRA just reprinted it so it should not be more than $50.
