Copycat Site

It looks like someone is starting up a copycat site over here:
http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/
They even have all the same categories and structure  . I wonder if this is an effort of someone who didn't like to be moderated and decided to go off and make their own site.

There are thousands of firearms websites out there and hundreds of firearms-related forums.
Nothing unusual about someone starting another one.

It's the idea behind the form, not the form, that defines a site. Whatever their idea, if there's a "market" for it, they'll get traffic. That's good!
And, of course, immitation is the best form of flattery.

Oh, I have no problem with them starting up a gun forum. I just thought it was a little cheap that they copied all the categories and structure from this site verbatim. I guess it's not that big a deal, I'm just big on originality, and the way they did it seems a little superfluous.

They're using a standard forum design, no big deal.

It's not exactly the same. They're just using a standard VB template. Not the same at all.

Hm, yeah, I guess you're right. For some reason all the topics looked essentially the same. Maybe it was the handguns and rifle sections that did it.
Well, apparently they're paying for people with gun knowledge to post.

I have to agree with NcongruNt, there are similarities between the new site and THR as well as TFL. That only means the forum owner has probably seen the categories here and at TFL and likes them, but he or she feels the need for more specific forums. Obviously no problem whatsoever.
However, they do need to add a proofreading position on their staff. ;)

After checking it out I would guess the founder of the site is a THR member. The layout, color scheme, ect is very similar. Oh well who cares? It looks like one more place on the web thats pro RKBA, and thats always a good thing.

Two trendy terms from the business world... Don't you guys look at Dilbert?

atek3 means that the first gun boards quickly suck up everyone because there is nothing else out there, and acheive a "critical mass" necessary for a vibrant community. The later boards will never acheive this critical mass because no one has left the original boards.
