I've searched and can't find anything conclusive. Does anyone know if a SA Mil-Spec 1911 requires a .45 or a .38 firing pin?

Also are there any other components (other than ILS system) that won't work with originally specified parts?

Thanks,

Eric

Springfields use Springfield spec firing pins. They are slightly oversize from Colt .38 dimensions. Ed Brown makes one if you want to replace your California titanium firing pin with steel. Order his no 826 direct or from Brownells.
I have read of people using standard .38 firing pins with no difficulty at low .45 ACP pressures, but since the correct part is available, I use it.
