There is more and more talk about this, and I was wanting to get a snapshot of what people think.

Republicans in House will not pass a new ban because of the election in November. Bush absolutely does not want to see a new ban on his desk before the election in November. The Senate will probably approve some type of new ban.

It all comes down to the House. If they are somehow convinced to approve a ban, Bush will sign it and then lose the Presidency.

I don't think it will make it to GWs desk. I read a good editorial about it not too long ago. The dems want this thing to die for a nice "high capacity clip of ammo" for election 2004. Why else would they make the new ban they want to replace the old one with so radical? If that thing doesn't get through Congress, GW won't have the chance to sign. If it makes it to him, he is going to sign it, but he isn't going to like it. Or you never know. He might sack up and say, "With terrorism the way it is now, I changed my mind. I want the citizens of this country to be able to defend themselves and their loved ones from possible terrorist attacks. I am vetoing this legislation in the interests of national security. God bless America." That would be the speech where afterwards all THR members would orgasm in unison. :what:

I'm following this all very closely, but I have no expectation of what will happen, since logic is rarely involved in legislation. 7 58.33%

I feel that there will be last minute frantic, wheelings and deelings in congress and a bill of some kind will be on Bush II's desk.
As much as I want this stupid law to sunset I can't allow myself to believe that the powers that be will allow it to happen.

No other gun law was ever put in place with a sunset clause, (at least that I know of), so they are still harrasing us. Why should this one be different?

One discussion on FOX was talking about how GW had studied what his father had done wrong as president and was trying to not make those same mistakes,

One of the reasons Bush (41) failed to be reelected was his 1989 import ban. Clinton and them other dumocrats stated the reason they lost the majority in congress in the 1994 midterm elections was the passage of the '94 AW Ban.

I hope Bush and the rest of the Republicans paid attention and really have learned something from it.
