I checked the seriel number and it was born in 1978. Internally and externally it still looks practically brand new! I get to pick it up after the obligatory 3 day wait here. The asking price was 849.00 plus tax. Traded my beretta 9000s against it, so about 600 bucks OTD.

I'm pretty excited. Has the original box and letter from colt and all that stuff. It looks amazingly well preserved considering the decades inbetween! This is my first really "high dollar" gun purchase. How'd I do?

Well...

1. I'd rather have a Colt than a Beretta.
2. Dealer tradeins are always a loss, you give him yours and buy his.

Well, I only paid 299 for the beretta...I spent a little on 92fs 17 rd mags and mag adapters, but...eh!

As soon as I pick it up I will definately have to post some pictures!

I like mine; only about 150 rounds through it since I bought it at the gun show.

Another "pimp" gun, since its nickel plated. I was surprised how low the recoil was compared to the .40sw. Interestingly 4+ years, I had shot a friends .45acp after shooting .45 colts exclusively and I thought the recoil on the .45acp was too much.

It just shows that we can adjust to recoil...
