I bought and just received from New Graham Knives 4 Benchmade hooks. 2 7-hooks in black and 2 5-hooks in black.

I just was wondering, the black finish isn't what I was expecting. It's not like the black I see on their knives. It's more of a grungy black look, almost like its worn.

At first I thought the first one was a defect, but then as I opened all 4 boxes, they all had the same finish, and that was for 2 each of 2 different models. The boxes seem new, the sheaths new, the blade part seems new.....

so.... is this normal? Is it a 440C thing? It's not really worn.... it's just not totally black. More dark dark grey with grungy black spots and streaks.

So long as it doesn't mean they're defective, I don't really care.... but I'm curious as to why the different finish from the other black Benchmade knives I have?
