I am new to the sport of shooting. I was a fair shot in the Marine Corps with the M16A2, but had never shot anything without a pistol grip. Now that I ama civilian in the PRK, I wanted to know of a rifle with a fixed magazine that has a pistol grip (looks like the only legal way in PRK).

Interesting note, it appears that I could stick a grenade launcher to the bottom of said rifle and it would be legal in PRK. I have no desire to do so, but it seems funny to me.

you gould get one of those fab-10 rifles, which are ar-15's with 10 round fixed magazines that you have to break open to load.

There are a few options for you. The Fab-10 is a ten round fixed AR style rifle that has a pistol grip. In my opinion however, they are an abomination that would make Santa Claus vomit in rage. There are new FALs out there made by Enterprise with fixed 10 round magazines too. These are kind of pricey but are less of an abomination than the Fab-10. Probably your best bet would be to buy a surplus SKS and put a dragunov style stock on it. The gun and the stock together would cost around $300 and you would have a rifle that would operate as it was designed to. I was told that this is legal but like all gun laws in California be weary. I emailed the DOJ for clarification and all they did was email the text of the law that classifies assault weapons. Here are some links that might help you as well.

The Romanian WASR 10 low cap is a standard AK but will only take 10 rounds. Its kali legal and has a pistol grip. they also make a pump AK for the Kali market that has the pistol grip also. There under $300.00.

I'm pretty sure the WASR 10, and any other semi-auto firearm based on the AK action, is illegal in California. The pump AKs are legal, but I have no idea how well they work - or why they appear to have a very non-AK-looking open rear sight mounted on the receiver cover.

Be very careful about taking gun advice about the PRK from people who don't live here. No offense, but they usually rely on what they have heard elsewhere. First, there are zero semi-auto, detachable magazine rifles with pistol grip or thumbhole stocks that are legal in the PRK. All of them are banned. Your only real options are to go for the FAB-10 or spend a bundle on a PRK legal FAL, which is way over priced at like $1500. And yes you could do the SKS with a pistol grip stock or a dragonov style stock. After having a pistol grip stock on my SKS, I switched it back to the original stock.

Since your options are limited, ask yourself why you really need a pistol grip stock. Yeah they are cool, but do you really need one. Take a look at a Springfield M1A, any of the M1 Garands, or if you want to stick to .223 a Ruger mini-14 or the FAB 10. The M1A and the mini-14 both have detachable magazines, the Garand has an 8 round enblock clip, and the FAB-10 requires you pull the gun apart to load it. The only reason I would have a FAB-10 myself is so I could have an AR, have around numerous uppers, and not have a reason to be too suspicious if they find all of those uppers and not a regular lower.

Whatever you choose, make sure you register to vote and you do so. Many people would encourage you to get out of the PRK and get a real AR-15 on the outside. I say ignore them, stick around, and help us make a difference in what could be a great state if we could just get rid of some of these liberals, or at least get some more conservatives.
