I mounted an Insight Technologies M3X Tactical Illuminator on my WASR via a TAPCO Galil handguard that I installed. Works great, especially with the preasure switch.
Weaver #36 base. Fasten it to the handguard with 2 machine screws and nuts. Attach your white light of choice.
Even a caveman could do it!

Once you figure out the rail, there's a good, inexpensive choice for the light. Leapers sells several models, but the one with the built in mount and tandem batteries is a great unit. It's tiny and designed for handguns but fits standard Weaver rails. I believe it's 90 lumens. I know it'll light up the high ceiling of a well lit gun show. It's extremely recoil resistant as I've discovered by testing it on a 12 gauge using 12 pellet 00 buck and slugs. They have a pressure switch for it also, but it hasn't hit the market just yet.

Do you have a website that sells the Weaver #36 base so that I may look at it and order it? Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for the link to Midway; I have one in my shopping cart right now, and I'm looking very closely at the light from CDNN. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone to post a pic or 2 of how to mount this rail on a plain jane Romanian SAR-1. I don't have any EBR forestock, or picatinny rails, or Ultimak sight tube, just the regular old wooden furniture,(except for the folding wire stock). Thanks so much in advance!
