Pops says Benjamin Bear was a big bow company. Google is not being my friend. Is this touching chords of memory for anyone?

Fred Bear, not Benjamin.
There is a 1963 Bear Archery catalog reprint advertised on e-bay that includes a Golden Fox bow. There are several other "color" Fox bows listed. Maybe the kid's model with a 30 lb pull?
There are Bear Red Fox and Black Fox bows in the completed auctions at:

Not expensive, but a neat find.

60" AMO is an adult sized bow.
It's a Fred Bear bow. And, not a bad one either.
You can get a new string at yeoldarcheryshoppe.com or go to Archerytalk.com (best archery forum on the web...) and get more info in the history section.
Have some arrows made for it, buy yourself a shooting tab, and shoot it. Or, you can send it to me since I eat, sleep, and breathe archery and will put it in my youth archery program I'm starting. :)
A lot of recurves get given or thrown away since people really don't know how to choose the proper bow for their needs. what a shame.

I would suggest taking it to an archery shop and having it looked at. There are a few things that can go bad on a laminate bow. You don't really want it breaking in your hand when you draw it.
I have seen a couple of spectacular failures while shooting at SCA events. Fortunatly, I didn't have to reach for my first aid bag.

Fred Bear and was located in Grayling, MI in 1963-actually from mid 50s till mid 60 or so when the employees tried to organize and just ended up pikketing for a couple years. Bear sold and it was moved to FL in the early 70's or so. Dates are not exact.
