Help with Beretta questions?

I have two questions and I am sure some people here know the answer.
1. Will the 92/96 mags interchange with the Cougar/8000 mags
2. I have heard if you have both 9 and 40 you can use your 40 mags in your 9mm gun, that the feed lips are the same diameter, can some one with both mags handy tell me if this is true. I know I can do this with my Sig 229.
Thanks

Actually, you can use the 92/96 mags if you modify them for the differences in mag catches. There's some info out about how to do this, but you will need to cut a new notch in the mag body. I believe on the opposite side from the current notch.

CZ-75: that playing around with the mag catches is only (sometimes) needed when you swap the Beretta and Taurus magazines and maybe with that new Springfield XD.
In the Beretta 92FS you can use the 40cal (Beretta 96) ten rounders and stuff about 14 rounds in the mag. As long as you don't modify the mag so that it will not no longer work in the original weapon - you are within the law.

E357,
He's talking about using 92/96 mags in the Cougar, which has the mag catch located differently from the 9x series pistols.
