Check the search function. Pretty sure this has been discussed ad nauseum. That being said, I like my Sig Sauer P225, but if I could have any 9mm for CCW it would be a Glock 18C.

I have to submit my S&W 940. Moon clips make it a fast reload and it is very controllable along with it being a Revolver for dependability.

I have 3 that I would trust my life with.
S&W 6906: 6 7/8" length, 5" height, 25.6 oz and holds 13 plus 1.
Sig P 239: 6.6 " " 5.1" H. 25.2 oz. " " 8 + 1
CZ75 PCR: 7.2" " 5." H. 27. oz " " 10 + 1
All in the same ballpark except for capacity. I shoot the S&W best
but Im improving on the others.

Glock 19. Holds a good deal of rounds in a package light enough to carry anywhere and has never failed on me.

For everyday CCW, I already carry a Kahr K9.
For HD, the SIG P226 gets my vote....15+1, great control, great accuracy, reliable.
Can't go wrong with a BHP, Beretta, CZ, HK, or Glock either.

For 9mm CCW, I am happy with my Kahr K9. Small, reliable, accurate, and great grip and trigger. Great for summer carry.
When I go larger than the Kahr's size, I step up to 40 cal. (with the maximum 10 shot capacity from reasonably priced mags) with my Walther P99.

Over the years I have shot most all execpt the P7.
What is it about this pistol that owners love?
Why do you not see the P7 around alot?
Dobe
June 15, 2003, 08:20 PM
The P7 is a natural pointer. It fits well in the hand, and because it is gas operated, the recovery is quick.
It also has a tendancy to get hot, because of the gases, and the price tag is real high....about 1500 bucks. The latter is the primary reason you do not see a lot of them around the range.

For SD/CCW:
CZ PCR, Sig P225 or SigP228 i that order
Have them all.
PCR is Fulltime...SIGs are safe guns anymore....not nearly as fun to shoot.
The PCR/BD's are to SIGs as XDs are to Glocks...more or less and zealots aside.

Another vote for the Glock 19. Mine has gone through thousands of rounds without a failure. Light in weight, high capacity for it's size, and no sharp edges to annoy you when worn under clothing.
I like the Sig 239 alot but it has more edges, more weight, and holds fewer rounds.

The best, if you mean accurate, 9mm IMO is the Walther P88 fullsize. For CCW the P88C or P99 are better. The Walther P88C is the pistol I would choose if I had too, but the P99 would be a very close second.

Well, I have always thought something suppressed might be a good choice for a HDW. Can't do that here, so an unsuppressed Hi Power- a MKIII- with night sights, thin grips, stippled front & back straps, "pre ban" mags, and good ammo is my choice. This thing helps me look better than I am with bowling pins and those tiny steel plates.

I've been looking at Compact 9mms.
In the last two weeks I've rented and familiarity fired four.
So far, the best of four tried is the Glock 26.
The Ruger P-95 was too wide in the grip for my hand size and trigger reach. I limp wristed it.
The S&W 908 was a bit uncomfortable in the grip, and the ejected rounds hit me in the face.
The Taurus PT-111 Millenium (not pro) was second best.
The Glock was more accurate and the trigger pull was lighter and the travel was shorter.
Geoff
Who thinks the mid-size Glock is next...I'd like to try a SIG-239.

No one best, imho. But, I do happen to like my G19, G26 and Kahr PM-9. Each serves it's purpose depending upon concealment requirements. Summer time, it is the Kahr PM9. When I can use cover garments, the G26 is my first choice.

"Best" is a subjective term.
"Best" 9mm to me is the HK P7M8, closely followed by the CZ-75, SIG P225/226, Glock 19, and Browning HP.

The G19 is stragely enough, a compromise gun without compromises!
Especially with medium-size hands like myself-I don't lose ANY shootability with the 'compact' G19.
15+1 Gold Dots, still light enough to forget about IWB with a good CCW belt.

Depends on how many rounds you want available.

For accuracy, capacity, affordability, toughness, goes bang everytime you squeeze the trigger, and eats everything you care to feed it; including wolves: Ruger P95 :D
It's only drawback is lousy concealability!! :banghead:
That said, I usually grab the MK9 Elite when I feel the need to hoof a 9mm!!

I was never comfortable with Kahr's quality or customer service reputation.
Love my SIG P220 but the P239 seemed too heavy and top-heavy for an all-the-time-carry gun.

Allow me step in here at the end of the line and give my input. IMHO I think that the Glock 19 is the best bar none, 9x19 for concealed carry. Even with a 10 round magazine, it carries more fire power than a similar sized j-frame revolver. Very slim, doesn't print easily, and best of all.....it doesn't feel like a compact 9x19.

Sig P239, BHP, or Glock 19. The PCR would be OK as well, and the least expensive option.

I can't imagine anyone recommending a Beretta 92/96 for ccw.
Maybe a customized chopped 'L' series, or smaller beretta.
Nor can I imagine anyone recommending a full size CZ75b for carry.
Maybe a compact, PCR, etc.
Why are people recommending BHPs for carry?
I'd rather carry a compact .45 than a full-size, double-stack 9mm.
Just too big and boxy.
Marko Kloos
September 20, 2003, 12:28 PM
The CZ and BHP are excellent carry guns despite their double-stack magazines. That's because their slides are narrow, and that's what goes inside the waistband with an IWB holster.

not seen mentioned, but i'll add s-w 3913, counting safeties, 1 1/4 inches wide, barrel is 1inch, accurate, dependable, some say only 8+1, but how many more rounds u usually use in a shootout? Also very concealable IWB

I still like the Hi Power a lot, a great pistol that keeps me comfortable.
But lately I've been using a Liebenberg built 5" S&W 5906 that is a tackdriving smooth shooter. The S&W PC is or did make 5" 5906s & 5903s this year; the alloy frame version sounds good to me.
EDITED: If I lived in a free state, I would already have one of the new PC 5"ers.....

BHP for me... but Justin's P7 could make me change my mind.
The skinny slide of the HP and CZ 75 SA make them much much smaller for carrying a full sized pistol and I don't like DA/SA.
The only Glock I ever liked was the full sized model 17 and that's a pretty big pistol.

We DID say "concealed," right?
Unless you're a big dude and/or wear a parka a lot, expect to compromise a little. I like the Glock 17 - and THAT took some getting used to since I teethed on a GI 1911 - but hey, it's almost idiot proof and handles well with a little practice. The Glock 19 is a great compromise "place to start" but you have to figure out how well you need to conceal the thing and under what conditions. The big 9's like the BHP are great, but for the money, if you're trying to downsize this whole deal, I'd go with Glocks and see how small you really want it. The 19 is handy and controllable, also about as big as "concealable" gets.
