Well, I just drove to Lebanon (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&addtohistory=&address=&city=lebanon&state=or&zipcode=&homesubmit=Get+Map) a couple weeks ago to buy some ammo because they have a Wal-Mart and we don't, and Wal-Mart sells the 100 round boxes of white-box Winchester 9mm for $10.96 each.

I'd imagine their gun laws are pretty similar to the ones here, since it's in the same state and all. Probably less restrictive when it comes to city and county ordinances.

As for per-capita gun-ownership, I dunno, but I'm not sure how easily that would be measured since there's not a whole lot of registration in Oregon. 4473s might work, but what about private sales?

edited to add: :D :neener: :D

Corvallis in particular sucks for shooters, as there's no place to go shooting. The nearest is the Albany Rifle and Pistol Club, as best as I can tell. And without a car, that's not really an option. Southern Oregon, Central Oregon, and Eastern Oregon are much better for shooters.

Brownsville is east of I-5, though, and a pretty small town. It's closer to Eugene (which has a Class 3 range, BTW). Eugene may be Hippyville #1 in Oregon, but it's probably got more options for shooters, too, by nature of being bigger than Corvallis.

I'd guess Brownsville's not too bad of a choice, really. And the Cascade Range is probably great for hunting (but I'm not really in to hunting, so I wouldn't know). Oregon is a shall-issue state, allows NFA Items, and is generally a conservative state. Not a bad place for non-liberal Californians to move, but I'd rather the liberal/hippie/left-winged kind stay away. IMHO it's too cold, though. I think I'd like Arizona, Texas, or the South a little better.

And MicroBalrog, sorry about razzin' you about the Lebanon thing. I honestly hadn't a clue about your question, and the small town 18 miles from me is honestly the first thing that came to mind. :D

Brownsville is a nice little town on the east side of the willamette valley. And it backs up into the cascades.

Its only a few minutes to the Albany pistol and rifle club which has full auto shoots once a month and the largest annual full auto shoot this side o'....

I live about twent miles north of Brownsville and this isde of the vally is very gun friendly.

Linn County is no sweat getting chl.

Also if you move to Brownsville Sam Elliot will be one of your neighbors.
