"We took action to limit the availability of guns and we showed a national resolve that the gun culture that is such a negative in the United States would never become a negative in our country," said Australian Prime Minister John Howard, who staked his political career on promoting tough gun laws after a gunman went on one of the world's deadliest killing sprees 11 years ago.

The tragedy in a Tasmanian tourist resort left 35 people dead. Afterward, Australia's gun laws were changed to prohibit automatic weapons and handguns and toughen licensing and storage restrictions. Yep, we've limited the # of guns and banned others. This will never happen again. :banghead: Nevermind that the Tas and VT killings were done by deranged individuals. Down Under had guns for what, 150+ years before the massacre? My point is that they could have begun sacrificing virgins every full moon 11 years ago and then pointed out, "see, it's working!" When, not if, the next loon cuts loose someone will have the bright idea of making it two a month since one worked for so long... Anyone ever read "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson? www.classicshorts.com/stories/lotry.html To me it reflects the mentality of gun-grabbers. For the greater good we're gonna have to sacrifice a few. Sorry. That BOR was made for a different time anyway. Trust us.
Heck, everyone knows that the only tried & true method of keeping evil at bay is to pull the bed covers over your head & shoulders while making sure your feet don't stick out...

I fully understand your point, but we've had this same discussion many times already. For now, let's don't go there again...
