Although there has been criticism of both sides for the speed of their response (see http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=270440 and http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=270015 ), it seems to me that it is just a reflection of the pace at which information travels today.
I'm writing a letter (real paper, not email) to my university's administration (Purdue) asking for a change in policy.
What are you doing? and are you doing it _now_?

There must be a corrolary somewhere that illustrates that if the officials of a school, city etc. disarm me then they are responsible in all respects for any harm that comes to me. I believe it is time for victems families to begin a class action suit against VT for forcing the students and faculty to become sheep upon entering the campus.

My take:
Educate Legislatures and all those in policy making and enacting laws/policy positions with FACTS that can be verified.
Litigation is a driving force in many policies and decisions being implemented.
Point being : Contact the folks that CAN change and Enact Changes.
By very nature of CYA many will indeed think of not wanting Civil Action.

Guys, the place to formulate and discuss ideas will be in L&P. This forum is going to be just for actually coordinating and working.
L&P has gotten so bogged down with trifling stuff, that we can't ever concentrate on the important things.
