Differnt Method of Cleaning

I was wondering if anyone cas see a problem with this. I use a product called Kroil Oil or Aero Kroil in aresol form. It has cleaning and lubricating properties. I get this free from work, but I have seen it at gun shows as well. I dont know if CLP will work in this manor.
1. Field strip pistol, meaning remove slide, barrel, guide rod, and grips.
2. Soak frame with all guts intact with Kroil
3. Let sit about 5 min.
4. Blow out with air compressor onto paper towel.
5. Reapeat untill Kroil stops coming out black in color, and comes out in its orange color it is complete. note: in areas of build up I may touch up with electric tooth brush.
6. Clean barrel in normal matter with choice of solvents.
When I am done pistols seem to be as smooth as day bought. Make sure all excess oil is blown out, we all know what too much can cause.

I use a similar method, but rather than Kroil or CLP, I use a home made "parts cleaning" solvent.
Equal parts kerosene, mineral spirits, and ATF fluid. I generally mix up a gallon and a half at a time, and immerse the entire gun.
Works great...

How long have you been doing this? What are long term effects? How about guns you don't use regularly, any problems w/ rust? Effects on non-metal parts? finish?
inquiring mind wants to know :scrutiny: :D

About 3 years. No issues yet. No discoloration of any wood or plastic stocks.
I have been doing this on my Beretta 92, my black stainless springer 1911.
Probally the best success story is the Model 60 I got for $30. It was a single shot when I got it. All I did was remove stock and spray "guts" heavily. Let sit about 5 min. Blow out with 90 psig air. Did this 4 or 5 times. White paper towel gives good visual on just how much gunk is being removed. Now it functions fine.
Kroil is a penetrating oil used for bolts that have been frozen due to corrosion. It creeps into every nook and crannie, then loosens debris. On really dirty guns (you know the smokin deal you got cuz it was dirty) I will let it sit overnight.

When soaking it put the container on top of the cloths dryer while it is running. The shaking motion spees things up.

I've heard a few folks say that Kroil can damage bluing, but I've never seen it and many, many more say it won't. In any case, it's too expensive for me to need to worry about having enough to dunk my guns.
Anyone tried the C&S Dunk-Kit?
