View Full Version : Question: Holster for Treo?

I went to the Allegheny County gun show this weekend and bought my first gun belt. It's a tremendous improvement over my old dress belt, but now I keep losing my cell phone (a Treo 650). The belt clip isn't quite wide enough for a 1.5" belt, nor is it quite right for a belt of this thickness.
The guy who sold me the belt had a homemade holster he built out of one of these here (http://tinyurl.com/25qd4q) by attaching a clip from a gun holster using an extra layer of leather on the back. It looked pretty slick, but he didn't have any more. He makes holsters, and this was a proof-of-concept thing.
Anyone else out there carrying a cellphone? :)

I carry my Treo 650 in an Aker cell phone holder - don't know if it's the 601 model or not, but looks like it. Had to stretch it side-to-side with a bit of rounded-edge molding the same width as the Treo.
I'm a bit concerned about impacts, so I carry the phone screen-in. Mine has held up for about two years now; a little bit of the stitching holding the velcro on the flap has come out, but things are still secure.
I really wanted something like a CompTac or BladeTech rigid holster, but couldn't find one to fit.

I have that exact case for my Treo right now. Works great. The clip on it is pretty strong and may work with your belt.

I use a ammo carrier to carry my Treo 650 on my belt. Works great. Doesn't come lose or break. I probably broke three or four Treo commercial holsters before I found this ammo carrier. I'm not even sure what kind of carrier this is. I just stumbled on this carrier at an Army surplus store. It's made of a fairly strong tightly woven fabric with a heavy plastic twist off. The twist off let's me remove the carrier from my belt without taking my belt off. It's even got a small pouch on the front that I place business cards in.
