muzzle affect on rifled slugs

New to slugs. Probably a silly question(s) but...
I know the condition of the muzzle has an affect on accuracy in rifled barrels such as handguns and rimfire/centerfire rifles. Does muzzle condition play as big a role in shotgun slugs? Particularly in a smooth bore SG using rifled slugs.
I have a older smooth bore Mossberg with the C-Lect choke that I'm thinking of turning into my dedicated slug gun for deer hunting and if having the barrel cut and crowned will improve accuracy (probably only 50-75 yards) I’m willing to have it done. If it’s not going to help I’ll leave as-is. What would you do?

Thanks
Rupestris

can't say for sure, but i suspect it wil have no difference on a shotgun.

also, shotgun barrels are so much thinner than handgun barrels. not much to cut to crown the end of it

Mossberg bolt actions with C-lectchoke and other shotguns with Polychokes oft do well with slugs as is. The caveat, keep the choke open, some of the "Petals" have broken off when screwed tighter than Modified, and I'd go with REAL IC.

The markings on these are oft in error, pattern and bench test to find the real constrictions.

In your shoes, I'd try a variety of non sabot slugs. There's a Cinderella slug out there somewhere for you.

HTH...

Thanks guys. I have every intention of taking it to the range with an assortment of slugs(when I can make the time). I'll try it with first to see how it does now that I know it should at least keep 'em in my lane.:p
