Tonight on the NBC Evening News a person identified as "Joe Vince, Former ATF agent" said that hollow points are "not something you would need for home protection...the idea of killing is what this ammunition portraies to me".
Good grief! An ATF agent, who presumably carried hollow points in his job, should know better!! Talk about inflammatory anti-gun rhetoric...:fire:

"not something you would need for home protection...the idea of killing is what this ammunition portraies to me".
Was that statement meant to contradict itself? The POINT of having a gun for home protection is that it's a means for lethal force. It's called lethal force because it's a level of force that could kill a person:scrutiny:

Seeing as he works for the BATF, he should know better. ALL BULLETS ARE DESIGNED TO KILL, PERIOD. As for it's usefulness in home protection, it is a bit more likely to stop a drugged up loony who breaks into your house dead in his tracks, and it is less likely to go through him and end up in your wall(or worse).

Logic like that is probably why he's a FORMER agent.
hollow points are "not something you would need for home protection...the idea of killing is what this ammunition portraies to me".
Poor stopping power, unintended casualties, and injuries due to overpenetration is what FMJ means to me.
Hell my pratice ammo is HP reloads because they are accurate and have a similar POI to my carry ammo.

^^^ Exactly. Too many people think that having a gun for defense means you can just pop the BG in the leg or something and it will all be over.

The VT nut-job might have been better off with FMJ. He could have upped his score with people hit by bullets that had passed through the original victims and by hits from ricochets

"Joe Vince" is the guy who started "Crime Gun Solutions" and makes most of his money "consulting" for and appearing as an expert witness for the Brady Campaign, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, and Mayors Against Illegal Guns. He is also on the board of American Hunters and Shooters Association (AHSA), the fake "gun owners group.".
Google joe+vince+gun and see what you get.

Careful, there. Shooting an assailant in self-defense ought to be directed at stopping the threat.
Subtle difference, but it may make all the difference in the world when those who stand in judgement of your actions decide what to do with you. We live in a world run by attorneys. Think like one.
