Sighting in my shotgun for slugs

I recently acquired a Remington 870 with a rifled barrel. I would like to sight it in for shooting slugs. With a little luck I will have some time this fall to go deer hunting. Any recommendations for sighting it in. I figured that I would buy a few brands of slugs and try them out to see which brand is the most accurate in my shotgun. A friend recommended that I sight in for 25 yards since most of my shots will be from a tree stand.

Sight in for 50. this'll give you the ability to hit things from 0 to 100 yards or so without much holdover.

I agree with Andrew.
Sooo, you have adjustable sights on your 870? Oh yeah, rifle sights. Elevation only? I've never shot a SG with sights beyond a bead before. I just shoot a bunch of slugs at 50 yds and see which ones group tightest, and use them and practice a bunch more to become 'sighted in' by muscle memory and sight picture with a little kentucky windage thrown in if needed.

I usually sight mine in a 50 yards also. I feel if it shoots about 2" above at 50 yards it should be pretty well off at 100 yards
