People have been predicting total handgun/military-type bans since 1968, and it hasn't happened yet. CCW laws continue to improve, and sales of military-type rifles proceed apace. Despite the recent massacre, a huge proportion of Americans don't think that guns are the huge problem Brady/VPC indicates.

Let's be cautious, but optimistic.

Oh, probably not in our lifetime; at least I hope. Give it a hundred years or more... By then the radioactivity from WW3 would have subsided and the north american conglomerate (led by french canadians who's fur caps protected them from the barrage) will crack down on all civilian energy and projectile weapons. Considering that the belgian incident was sparked by a sexually frustrated teenager and a thermal detonator.

When the teachers try and club you over the head with false facts, flail around the issues and take a stab at logic, one would hope a student could have the option of shielding herself from it. I do admire a rapier-sharp wit that cuts right to the heart of the matter, however. In this case, it seems the student had a real short fuse.

I just hope the principal doesn't go off half-cocked and implement flash-in-the-pan measures that fail to hit the mark.

Oh, boy. Looks like my mind was on automatic and I got caught shooting my mouth off about this stuff again. Sorry to say, my thoughts often revolve around puns. Next time I won't lose sight of the topic at hand and stay on target.

It was probably a zinc headed replica flail, I have seen a bunch of those with sharp points, and theyd be easy to find and pretty cheap. Just because its a replica dosent mean it couldnt crush a skull or two before breaking apart. I cant say ive ever heard of a test for zinc in a metal detector, no idea if it would slip through or not. Even so, I dont think theyre pure zinc, very likely some alloy made primarily of zinc. Not to mention the chain....

I grew up in the '50's - if you couldn't buy guns, I would be able to supply you with a very good zip gun for a very reasonable price, with discounts for gross or larger quantities.

Ah, yes. The pen is truly mightier than the sword. But a flail, on the other hand...

Tell you what, I'll take the pen and a flail and you can have the sword. Then, while you're busy sharpening it, I'll have time to write letters to politicians requesting they ban such outlandishly deadly implements as swords( grin ).
