I have had a SA LW Micro .45 for several years. It runs perfectally, thanks to your suggestion for installing an EGW FPS. I just noticed yesterday, though, that I am unable to eject a live round from the gun, as there is unsufficient clearance for the nose of the round. THe bullet nose hangs up on the lower front of the ejection port.

I have never had to clear a live round, as I always shoot what is in the gun! I know that I can relieve the front-lower portion of the port, and would then to have the slide refinished.

Am I missing something here? I am also thinking of contacting SA, and seeing if they might perform this work under warranty. I will email them tomorrow.

I wanted to elicit your expert opinion on this, though. I am concerned about this, as I want to be able to safely unload this weapon without shooting the round in the chamber! If, for example, I needed to clear the gun in order to lock it up, or for an LEO, I do not want to deal with this issue.

ANy help that you could muster would be greatly appreciated!

Remove the recoil spring and see if it will eject. A spring change could have caused binding.

The inability to eject a live round is a charactistic of every one of those little monsters that I've handled. The reason is simply a matter of the far too short slide travel and the necessarily long ejector. Hardball is the worst offender because of its overall length. Factory ball averages about 1.260 inch. You'll get better results with one of the shorter hollowpoints, which are about .050 inch shorter. Meanwhile, practice using the overhand method of drawing the slide back and pushing the round off the extractor with your strong-side thumb, and down the magwell.
