I finally had a chance to take the new Madsen to the range. All in all it was a pleasant shoot, my pee poor performance aside. It is a very pleasant rifle to shoot, with excellent sights and zero felt recoil. It would have been nice to have something other than an old box of Federal 165's, and a few Winchester 150's, but maybe next time. A few more outings, and she'll be good to go.

No more using "Kentucky elevation" for me. With the front sight post run all the way up, she was hitting about 3.5" high at 100 with Federal 165's. Well, I ran two boxes of S&B 180 FMJ's through her today, and POI was right on POA. So I'm a much happier camper now!

It's actually kind of rare to find one that's beat up because it's almost a guarantee that abuse came after being bought. Almost none of the 47/59's ever saw military service. My Madsen was drop dead mint, and I bought it 10 years after they were imported.
