I'm aware the 7.62x39 bullet is slightly larger, but if the suppressor's bore size is a good deal larger than either (0.37 inches, to be exact), then is there any reason why a sound suppressor designed for 7.62x51 can't be used on a 7.62x39 rifle?

You are out in Vegas.
Contact Tim LaFrance or Smith Enterprise and ask them this question.

Might be best to get one for 7.62-39 instead, then you know you're good to go. It will be louder when you put 51 through it but better than risking injury/damage/excessive pressure if the fit it too tight the other way around.

But I dont see why it wouldnt work. The issue I could see is threading differences and barrel diameter differences. You would probably have to get some some kind of custom adapters made. I can understand why its not recommended, but I think we all do lots of things that arent recommended.

But, dont risk it. If something does go wrong, your gonna be having a bad day. :D

Contact the maker of the suppressor you want to use and ask them. 7.62x51 rifles have so much more muzzle pressure, I don't think there is any risk of damage from the much milder 7.62x39. I'd have doubts about anybody that told you there was a problem with the .003" larger bullet clearing the baffles.

Obviously, it is wise to contact the manufacturer.

Interestingly, not all 7.62x39 has .311 diameter bullets. The South African surplus that was imported a few years ago, and some of the more expensive commercial ammo has .308 diameter bullets.
