Maybe it's too early in the day for many responses. Cleaning should be done after every shooting session. Use light loads for practice because the heavier the load, the more wear & tear on the gun.

I've owned three Taurus snubs: Model 85 & two Model 605's.
The 85 blew up & Taurus replaced it, free. I used the replacement as a down payment on the 605. When the trigger strut broke on it, Taurus replaced that gun, also free. I used that one as a down payment on a Smith Model 649, which has provided excellent service.

Do a "search" on Taurus and you may be able to get more information,

Not a stupid question. You just just have a cindition known as Fat Finger Syndrome, and it caused you to type 626 instead of 627, (which is the correct model # for the Taurus that you just bought). I have handled these guns and I really want one. The one that I shot was a real pussycat with full house magnum loads.

I hear that snap caps and a lot of dry fire practice will work the kinks out of a rough Taurus trigger if yours has a rough trigger.

The steel framed Taurus revovlers are great guns. I've had two and I have two recent auction acquisitions that are coming (I pick up the 85CH tomorrow and I'll get to pick up the 431 in a month or so). They aren't quite as nice as a S&W (at least the older S&Ws) but they are good guns and great values.

For care, just be sure to clean it and if you shoot .38s out of your .357 you'll have to be especially sure to keep the cylinders clean to avoid a build up that could make it difficult or even dangerous to use .357s out of it. Keep the outside oiled for the preservative value and looks, use very light grease (or I like the "dry" lubes) on the internals (don't take off the sideplate more than once a year or two) and you'll be good to go.

Oh I almost forgot. Congratulations on your first revolver. You bought probably the best Taurus made, and the choice of .357mag is a very good one. I'd bet this will start a new addiction.

Next maybe a used S&W M586 or M19 would be a good addition.
