Question from a newbie.
A friend just gave me one.
Is it a good pistol?
Does it have any downside? Feeding problems?
I love the looks of it.
Opinions.
Thanks in advance
Randy

I have had two of them that worked flawlessly and accurately--
Others have had feeding problems--
Possibly luck of the draw??
I've always had good luck with AMTs -- but I never had an AMT 1911
Auto mag V --50ae
2-AutoMag II 22mags
4-AMT 380 SA backups
All worked great --(The 380s were dept guns I maintained)
the 22 mag AMT was a great fun gun with oine heck of a muzzle flash -- :D

I wish somebody offered a current production .22 mag autoloader. Those old AMT Automags usually command an arm and a leg when they're in decent shape and they're not exactly the prettiest guns ever made.

If yours works than you got a great deal.
.....but if yours is as crappy as the 3 or 4 I've delt with over the years then you got ripped off!

Mine always worked well with Winchester ammo, as the owner's manual recommends, but a friend bought one (on my recommendation) and had nothing but problems. I found it fun to shoot, loud with lots of flash. Great Millet sights came standard. Wish there were some aftermarket grips to replace the slick ones it comes with.

Pachmyer made grips for them, but they're fairly tough to find.
