I seem to remember reading about a break-action-semi-auto (5 shot)shotgun, and will be in the market for a new target gun soon. I was thinking checking this gun out but cannot remember the model or manufacturer.

Thanks in advance

There may be some high-end custom makers who sell various things.

However, the only current-production break-action semiauto from a mass-production gunmaker that I know of is the Beretta UGB25.

AFAIK, it's a 2 shot, and it's specifically designed for trapshooting. Trapshooters often like long single-barrel guns (mine's got a 34" barrel), want a barrel lined up with the receiver's centerline, and appreciate the soft recoil of a gas-operated semiauto. However, at the trap range, a break-action provides a high margin of safety since it won't fire when open, and you can rest the muzzle on your foot comfortably to keep your arms fresh between shots.

The idea behind the eccentric design is that the UGB25 provides all of these contradictory features at the same time, in a trap gun that works for singles and doubles.

I don't have one, and I can't recall ever seeing one. But they do exist and you can buy them if you are willing to order one.

However, they're not field guns, not by a long shot.:)
