gas gun differences?

I am considering buying a Classic Trap 1100 but, I have a couple of questions before I do...

What is the difference in the gas systems of a 1100 vs say a Beretta? Are they all about the same? I have seen an 1100 disassembled where the O-rings reside etc. How are the others different, better, worse, etc?

They're all similar, but not exactly the same. People report Beretta's gas system staying clean for longer.

However, you're talking about a trap gun. You won't be waterfowling in negative temperatures, and you can always have a spare O-ring. My O-ring has never failed, but I carry a spare to prevent Murphy's Law and if the thing doesn't feel like rubber any more, I replace it.

When I use my 1100 at the range, I take off the foreend (takes 2 seconds) and wipe off the outside of the mag tube with Rem-Oil Wipes from Wal-Mart after I shoot it, especially with dirty ammo. Occasionally, I actually do a full cleaning. I also use the gun in the field, in rain and dust.

The Beretta is a newer design and "better." It also has a gas valve, which you don't need at the range. I'd rather have a 2 3/4" chamber and a gun tuned for target loads. The mechanism of the 1100 trap gun is simpler, with less to clean or break.

For trap range use, though, buy the gun that fits and swings to your liking, not the gun that requires a bit less cleaning or works better for duck hunting. If that's the Beretta, get it, but if it's the 1100 CT, you'll be happy with that.
