Damon Wells is the man gun supporters imagined when they fought for the right to carry concealed weapons.

He had a permit to carry his gun, and he had the gun on him when a pair of teenage thieves approached him Saturday night on his front porch.

When one of the youths pulled a gun, Wells whipped out his and shot one of the boys multiple times in the chest, police said.

Arthur Buford, 15, died after stumbling away and collapsing on a sidewalk near East 134th Street and Kinsman Road.

City prosecutors decided Monday that Wells, 25, was justified and would not be charged for what appears to be the first time a concealed-carry permit holder has shot and killed an attacker.

Sounds like he deserved to be shot to me. Let's hope Tn has legislation to protect him from civil suits.

Sweet. Good to see somebody actually get some use out of CCW.

"Sweet. Good to see somebody actually get some use out of CCW", groovemongrel.

What?! I think you should re-word your posting! It seems less-than THR quality. It comes across more like hunting than self-defense. I would not want such a post associated with my name for the possibility that I might ever be involved in a defensive shooting. A prosecutor might argue, “Look...he finally got what he wanted...to shoot someone!"

Just my two cents.

I love to hear it when a homeowner or permit holder stops a crime but I still hate that a 15 year old boy had to die. Let's face it, kids are stupid.
I never committed a serious crime when I was that age but I sure did some dumb stuff that I wouldn't even consider doing now.
I just hate the kid learned a permanent lesson.
I've got a CCW on the way and I'll shoot if I have to. I just hope I don't have to.

Any death is sad but better the BG than the innocent citizen. I’m glad the law isn’t going to put this guy through hell.

One of the things they keep telling us in the academy is that bad guys come in all shapes and sizes. In 2005 (I think thats the year) a police officer was killed by a 12 year old girl. Kind of scary but career criminals start young.

Sweet. Good to see somebody actually get some use out of CCW.

I'll add to what others commented - this is not a statement we want to see here, reading it as it tends to come over. A death resulting from a defensive shooting is not cause for celebration - other than perhaps breathing a sigh of relief for the resulting survival of the good guy.

If the intention was indeed to mean more ''one for the good guys'' then not so bad but - it seems unclear.

As the other main thread is running this one can close.
