What do you guys know about the 7.62x51mm South African battle pack ammo?

What do you know about Portugese surplus manufactured in 10/ 79 (of the same caliber)?

South African was the last 7.62 NATO surplus available up until recently. It's getting harder (and more expensive) to find. Radway Green, Aussie, Port and some others would be considered superior in terms of accuracy to SA. I'm not saying it's bad ammo; it's just not "super match quality".

SA .308 was packaged in 140 rd sealed battlepacks, with 1260rds per ammo can. The ammo cans are not watertight as they have drainage holes in the bottom. Most SA surplus imported to the US dates in the 70s and 80s and the headstamp is "R1M1".

It is Berdan primed and so (for all practical purposes) the cases are non-reloadable.

Nowadays you see battlepacks going for $50 and above. I picked up a goodly supply (7k+) when pricing was a lot lower.
